From City to Serenity

Have you ever had a dream and then succeeded in making that dream a reality? Well that describes Paul in a nutshell. Polish by birth, Canadian by choice, now living in Mexico, Paul is the quintessential dreamer and visionary, a man with a plan! An architect, builder, artist, former race car driver, gardener, father of four and so much more. There are inadequate words to describe the energy and drive of the founder of Rancho de las Estrellas. Lets just say he is a man of many talents and creative ideas and he knows how to implement them!

After 15 years of building homes and living in Puerto Escondido, witnessing its growth as well as the lack of proper infrastructure in place to support it, watching and hearing the sights and overwhelming noise which began to accompany that progress, and drawn to the simplicity and quiet of the Mexican countryside, Paul and his wife Luisa sought and found an out. After exploring the entire area in a 50 kilometers radius from Puerto, they finally bought a 50 hectare Ranch overlooking the Lagunas de Chacahua at the edge of the national park in the spring of 2023.

They saw it as the perfect place to continue creating lovely, peaceful environments and to enjoy life closer to nature.

Bringing Nature and Community Together

Soon, lots were drawn and plans made and Rancho de Las Estrellas was born, just above the village of El Zapotalito where the boats set off to idyllic Chacahua Island and its epic surf. Its a location where the light pollution is non existent and the stars rule the night skies, where wild life and birds abound, where the views are unparalleled, the folk are friendly, and life is simple. Whales migrate up and down along the beaches here, dolphins can be seen from shore, pelicans dive for local delicacies.

Paul holds the vision of an Eco community of around 250 residents, with an inspiring Yoga Retreat, Healing Center, Pickle ball courts and swimming pool, guest cabins and hospitality, restaurants and a food forest for Permaculture enthusiasts and for teaching a sustainable way to live on the planet. A Waldorf alternative school is also planned, as well as a retirement home, and workshops and galleries for visiting artists.

Rancho de las Estrellas Welcomes First Residents

As of now, January 2025, two wells have been drilled and several roads built. Some fifteen lots (out of the seventy available) have been purchased by foreigners and by Mexicans alike. We will be a mixed community where each member is encouraged and supported to contribute their own dreams and ideas to the greater vision- a thriving community with nature at its heart.

Construction of the Rancho’s first home began in mid August, a smooth ten week build, interrupted only for two weeks by the heavy rains of October. It’s an open style screened-in Oaxacan Palapa home with breathtaking 360 degree views of the surrounding hills, lagoons and ocean. It’s the home of Boaz and Roxi (an Israeli/ Canadian couple) and is a great example of what can be achieved on a modest budget and a passion for outdoor living, gardening, yoga, and surf. They moved in as the first residents of Rancho de las Estrellas at the beginning of November and are enjoying the solitude and peace that this status confers.

Fruit Trees and Yoga Dreams

They’ve planted over sixty fruit trees as well as palms, vegetables, and flowers. With the help of local workers, and on their own steam and ingenuity their guest cabana hosted its first guests at the end of February. Between planting and taking trips to the local beach ( gorgeous Cerro Hermosa- ten minutes away) for a dip, or a Margarita, or sunset meditation, Boaz and Roxi are planning a 100 meter Yoga Retreat for Teacher Trainings and Yoga intensives as well as singing circles, sound baths, ecstatic dances and more…

Currently the opportunity is open for anyone with interest in developing the hospitality portion of this project or investing in the construction of cabins or guesthouses. Volunteers will be welcome to visit in August!

Paul is about to begin construction on his own mountain top home and we are so excited that the Rancho is well on its way to being one of the best places to live on the Oaxacan coast a convenient one hour drive from Puerto and the about to open new International Airport!

We invite you to be neighbors and would love to support you in creating the home and business of your dreams. It would be inspiring to meet you, to have you come for a tour at the Ranch, to stop in at Roxi and Boaz’s place for a coffee or a cool drink beneath the breezy Palapa and enjoy the breathtaking views of Lagunas de Chacahua, and to talk about dreams and how to make them come true!

We are waiting for you at Rancho de las Estrellas!
